Michele Wisdahl

Michele Wisdahl is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Brazilian Anthropology at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. Her research on education in Northeast Brazil links anthropological discussions of morality, affect, politics and the state.  She is currently collaborating with a fortalezense artist to develop a graphic novel about high school students and their experiences preparing for vestibular and the future. This is inspired by her PhD thesis, entitled “Self-Esteem, Dreams and Indignation: Lessons from an Emerging Middle-Class Private High School in Northeast Brazil”. She is part of Comoveras, the feminist experimental ethnographic writing collective.
